On this day in 1965, the British author of the Harry Potter series, J. K. Rowling was born. The Harry Potter books have sold over 400 million copies and there is now 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter' in the Universal Studios, Florida. The success of the fantasy Potter novels has driven her to lasting fame and money money money. Lots of money.
However if you delve into her literary repertoire prior to Mr Potter, a fantasy tale about a rabbit is the only other known story she wrote when she was a little girl. So it appears Harry saved her life. Rowling's a true rags to riches story, all made possible due to a little imagination and artistic license. She openly admitted she spent hours and hours in coffee shop and coffee shop writing the Harry Potter novels, which seems quite a strange place to be thinking about wizards and wands!
Do you like the Harry Potter books? Or do you think Rowling dragged them out a bit too long?
