July 9th: The Day The Queen Found a Stranger in her Bed

On this day it was reported by the BBC that a 31 year old man broke into the Queen's private chambers at Buckingham Palace and had a 10 minute chat with her. Michael Fagan was arrested in 1982 after climbing over the palace walls and scrambling up the drainpipes, finally arriving in Her Majesty's boudoir barefoot.
Buckingham Palace: The crime scene
Fagan seemed to live up to the Dickensian character surprisingly well in terms of his criminal nature, having attempted to steal half a bottle of wine from the Palace too, and committing various other offences shortly after this incident. It was only until he asked the Queen for a cigarette that she had the chance to call for help, and soon enough a footman came to her rescue, restraining Mr. Fagan until One could dial 999 and the police arrived.
This intrusion was the sixth break-in Buckingham Palace had suffered in 1982, which prompted people to question just how safe our monarch actually was. Despite Fagan not appearing to have an incentive to hurt the Queen, a different man broke into the Palace armed with a knife only a month prior to July 8th's events. On a lighter note, in 1981 three German tourists actually tried to camp on the grounds of Her Majesty's London home, under the impression that it was Hyde Park. Surely they were wondering what that grand building was, and why there were so many Corgis everywhere?!
What do you think? Is the Queen in safe hands today? Or should she be locking her windows and doors before bedtime?
