July 27th: The Day of The Olympic Opening Ceremony 2012

The day London has been waiting for finally happened on July 27th this year. Over 60,000 people were involved in the Olympic Opening Ceremony, choreographed by Oscar-winning film director Danny Boyle. The reviews of his masterpiece 'Isles of Wonder' has been heart-warmingly positive, congratulating Boyle on successfully 'defining Britishness'. Going by the headlines across the world the next day, the show was a hit!
A spectacular start
Boyle jumped at the chance to include all things English, beginning with the Queen who officially opened the Olympic ceremony (for the second time in her reign, the first time was in 1976 at Montreal). The rest of the ceremony included traditional English music and current bands, Daniel Craig as the ever so English James Bond, and Sir Paul MacCartney performing the classic 'Hey Jude'. The success of the show has pushed the London 2012 Olympics even further into the global public eye, with all 205 competing countries eagerly tuned in.
Will London pull it off? Or will the pressure cause problems? Following the diving competition on July 30th, Great Britain's favourite to win Tom Daley narrowly missed out on a medal position, and has been attacked by Twittering haters...will this detract from the celebratory vibe of the Opening Ceremony? Or can London rise above it?
